A green oasis with vintage charm – La Foleia seems like something out of a dream. Yet paradise is within easy reach, not far from Lake Maggiore in the north of Italy.
Recently renovated, the site is the ‘mad’ – Foleia is Latin for ‘folly’ or 'madness' – idea of two architects who set out to build a charming, luxurious holiday home in a former woodland area. Fed by the Ticino River's own spring, they have created a large lake, at the end of which two enchanting villas face each other.
Just like the exterior, the interior of the two villas looks like something from another world. Opulently decorated walls continue the picturesque lake theme indoors, with decorative pieces picking up on the colours. The beige-coloured sofa creates an inviting haven of peace.
