The design duo Thalea Schmalenberg and Kasper Fris Egelund were inspired by the elegance of traditional paper fans. Their fascination with the simple, poetic expression as well as the materials and interactive properties led to the development of LIRIS. The light source is included. It emits warm white light with low brightness. The lamp has a switch on the lamp with which it can be switched on and off and dimmed in three levels.
